What Is an Audio Guestbook?

If you've been scrolling through Pinterest lately, you've probably noticed a vintage telephone popping up at receptions, bridal showers, and engagement parties.

So what's the deal with the phone?

It's likely an audio guestbook - a modern twist on the traditional wedding guestbook that allows your friends and family to leave you personalized voice messages instead of writing in a book.

And honestly (we're biased) but we think that's pretty special! Instead of reading "congratulations!" written on a page years from now, you can actually hear your grandmother laughing, your best friend telling your favorite embarrassing story, or your dad giving you marriage advice. Those voices become part of your wedding memories.

How Does an Audio Guestbook Work?

At your wedding, we provide a vintage rotary phone that has been converted into an audio guestbook. Your guests simply pick up the phone and listen to your personalized greeting.

Once they hear the tone, they leave their message. That's it.

There's no complicated technology for your guests to figure out and no app they need to download. The phone looks and feels like a vintage telephone, but behind the scenes, it records every message digitally.

After your event, the recordings are processed and sent as digital audio files that you can listen to on your phone, iPad, computer, or even get pressed into a vinyl!

So while the phone may look like it belongs in your grandparents' house, the memories it captures are preserved digitally for you to keep.

What Do Guests Say?

That's one of our favorite parts.. you never really know what people are going to say.

Some guests leave sweet messages wishing you a lifetime of happiness. Others tell stories. Some offer unsolicited marriage advice. And inevitably, someone gets a little too comfortable with the microphone...

That's part of what makes an audio guestbook so fun.

You aren't just collecting congratulations, you're collecting people's personalities, voices, laughter, and stories.

Why Choose an Audio Guestbook Instead of a Traditional Guestbook?

Traditional guestbooks are beautiful, and we're not here to convince you to ditch yours if you love it. In fact, at our wedding, we had both!

An audio guestbook just captures something a written guestbook simply can't... the sound of your people. Years from now, you may not remember exactly what someone wrote in your guestbook. But hearing their voice can instantly transport you back to that moment.

Where Should You Put Your Audio Guestbook?

We recommend putting it somewhere guests will naturally see it, but not somewhere that's directly in the middle of the dance floor. A welcome table, cocktail hour area, or lounge space can work beautifully.

We also recommend adding custom signage with a simple prompt, such as:

"Pick up the phone and leave us a message!"

Or make it more personal:

"Tell us your favorite memory, give us some marriage advice, or just say hello."

Giving guests a few ideas can help prevent the classic "Congratulations, we love you!" and encourage more memorable messages.

The Best Part?

There's something pretty special about sitting down together after the wedding, pouring a glass of wine, and listening to your friends and family relive the day through their voices.

Your wedding lasts one day, but the voices from it can last forever.
